Ah, Nostalgia!
Looks like this old dog and classic trick have been revived.

I couldn't believe it when I saw this... I was handed down a bank just like this one from my mom's childhood. I remember playing with it and thinking it was such a fun way to save my pennies. Now you too can empty your pockets of spare change, and watch the trick dog take your coin in his mouth, jump through the hoop, and deposit it in the barrel. Click here to purchase.
Now I wonder what happened to my Mom's original?

German Shepherd Needs Home

This is Falco, he is an 11 year old AKC registered German Shepherd. Robin Ramsey rescued him from an abusive owner. He is a very good dog; he listens well to commands and is very social with other dogs and children. He is up to date with all his shots and heart worm and is neutered. Very sweet loveable big lug of a dog. He came from Penn. where for the last 8 years he was chained to a wall of a garage, so he needs a great home with a yard. He is very loveable and needs a home where he isn't left all by himself for long periods of time. He needs a home without a cat. Please help Falco find a good home, he deserves one.

Scooby-Doo Creator Dies

Iwao Takamoto, the creator of Scooby-Doo died Monday at the age of 81.

Takamoto was a great person with an incredible spirit. He learned to draw with the tutelage of fellow internees when he was sent to the Manzanar internment camp in the California desert during World War II. He was able to turn this experience into something good and create the most well-known of dog cartoon characters. Not only did he create the beloved character of the clumsy Great Dane, but he also developed Astro from The Jetsons, Muttley, the Hanna-Barbera mixed breed, and Lady in Disney's Lady and the Tramp.

Watch This!

Check out this adorable
video of a Dogo Argentino gently playing with a tiny, tiny friend. Dogo's are often mistaken for pit bulls - which is one of the problems with BSL that discriminates against any dog with certain physical characteristics.

Teach 'Em Young

So this might seem a bit funny at first, but I wonder if it can really help to educate a whole new generation about the importance of cleaning up after your pet. Mattel has released a responsible pet owner Barbie. Available sometime in mid January, this Barbie set includes Barbie doll, Tanner (her dog), food bowl with, well... kibble that also serves as well... you know, and a special magnetic scooper and trash can. As soon as it is available to the public you can purchase it here. [via doggie news]

Cool New Pet Gadget

The Tazlab™ safe-t-stretch collar stretches when not clipped with a leash allowing your dog to easily pull away from anything his collar might be stuck on such as tree limbs, fences, other dogs, sprinkler heads, etc. A great gadget for that dog that's always seeming to get into things!

Doggie Diet Pill

Looks like a diet pill for dogs has been approved by the FDA folks. Apparently it diminishes the dog's appetite. I don't feel really good about this because I'd rather see more programs encouraging exercise rather than a quick fix. Exercised dogs are happy and healthy dogs. There's certainly a connection between the human obesity epidemic and the growing cases of obesity in dogs. What's next? Gastric-Bypass for Dogs?

And I'm a bit scared about humans getting this prescribed for Fido and taking it themselves to lose a few pounds. It's not a far fetched idea considering the current rage in Hollywood dieting is actually a supplement for race horses.

Read all about it here.

What do you guys think?
